It’s only Tuesday, and already this week has been a busy one for .tv. We were at SxSW this weekend, and today Sedo announced a .tv auction of 115 premium names. There’ll be some great names such as Business.tv, Home.tv, Cable.tv and Lifestyles.tv on the list. This is the first time these names have been offered with a standard registry renewal fee. To quote Jeremiah Johnston, the COO at Sedo:
“Descriptive and numeric domains are some of the most valuable and sought-after online destinations in the domain industry, and there are many excellent .tv choices in this auction. Sedo is honored to work with VeriSign to give the business community, content creators, portfolio managers, and online marketers the rare opportunity to register these .tv domain names at affordable price points.” The full press release is available here.
Make sure to go to www.Sedo.tv for more details, and check out the .tv auction which runs April 1st through April 8th!

Tom C.
First off. Congrats on Verisgn getting a deal with Sedo to market premium .tvs at regular renewals.
The most important question though has yet to be answered. And it comes right at the end of your statement: “at affordable price points”.
Is there a reason you do not wish to disclose those price points? It will give many people an idea if they are within range of these “at affordable price points” and plan accordingly
Thanks once again
Thanks for your comment, we’re excited about the upcoming auction too!
The statement you referenced was made by Sedo’s Jeremiah Johnson (not me) – but Mark Klein at Sedo made a comment on another blog today answering a similar question. This is what Mark said:
“Just to confirm these details for you. ALL .tv names in this Sedo auction will have reserves at less than $5000 and yes, ALL these domain names in this auction will be at your registrar’s standard annual renewal rate for .tv’s. We hope this wide selection of names with the lowered price point allows everyone to own a really good and memorable .tv domain name.”
Tom, are you eliminating the premium renewal structure across the board?
Sanchay,
Thanks for your question! Please see the ‘.tv Premium Announcement’ post, and Chris Sheridan’s comments.
Do you think is fair to the current premium holders like myself who has paid well over 10k in reg fees already? What is your thoughts on the long term premium prices for names already registered? thanks
