.tv’s International Roundup – Auf Wiedersehen

Posted by Tom C., Verisign

If you are at all like me, you are amazed that July came and went so quickly.  As July ends, we’ll be saying Auf Wiedersehen, Sayonara, and Adios to this month’s International theme. We did several posts highlighting the global demand and usage for .tv domains, and gave examples of how companies are effectively using .tv to reach target markets instead of region-specific extensions. I wanted to post three excerpts from articles earlier this month that really exemplify .tv’s international presence:

1. Mtv.tv – Europe “This intuitive Web address allows our viewers to access MTV’s online content with ease, and certainly helps to give the channel a European if not global feel while maintaining our positioning as The World’s Music Channel.”

2. Sf.tv – Switzerland “the. TV extension provides the “Schweizer Fernsehen” with an international presence and strong traction at marketing level, that goes beyond the Swiss borders.”

3. Bollywood.tv – India.  “In comparison to television, the Indian movie industry is much much bigger with over 2 billion people watching Indian movies worldwide. The Indian movie industry (popularly called Bollywood, although that only includes the Hindi movies and not the other regional language movies) is currently estimated at $2.2 billion and produces five times the number of movies that Hollywood does. It is no wonder that sites like bollywood.tv are a big draw for Indian entertainment-hungry fans globally.”

I hope you’ve enjoyed this month’s theme about .tv around the world – I’d like to thank our guest bloggers based in other countries who posted in different languages and gave us their perspectives. Tune in next month, when we spotlight the power of .tv for education.
