Our studio was really busy and we were incredibly fortunate that a lot of the BWELA speakers and personalities stopped by the booth to be interviewed. One of these people was podcaster, author and speaker Mitch Joel of Twist Image.

In this video, .tv Advocate C.C. Chapman and Mitch talk about the evaluation of client video content strategy and the importance of making great online video.

One of the things we were most excited about when we were getting ready for BWELA was all of the great exhibitors that were going to be there. We were able to interview a bunch of great people and we’ll be sharing a lot of those conversations in the next few weeks.
Our very first interview Friday morning was with an app that we all love here at .tv, Viddy. Viddy (Twitter, Facebook), like another well-known photo app, allows you to edit your 15-second video clips with a number of fun and interesting filters, as well as add music and share you video to a number of social networks and through email and text messages. It’s a really fun, and popular, app.

We got to talk with Viddy’s CMO, Evan White, who walked us through the app and spoke about what’s next.

We had an amazing time at BlogWorld – we met great people, talked (and shot!) a lot about online video, played with some fun new apps and had a huge amount of fun.

Some of our favorite moments:

  • C.C. Chapman: “Seeing the constant stream of people swinging into the booth and asking what .TV was all about. The living room set instantly welcomed everyone in and they came in droves which was great to see.”
  • Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff : “The great Anji Bee interview!”
  • Melissa Pierce: “People stopping by to watch the live interviews – on the bigscreen TV instead of the studio itself… what does that say about our LOVE of video?”
  • Rick Griffin: “Getting to interview the Vacation Gals, JD Andrews and iGrandma.tv”
  • Sandi McKenna: ”Our educational segment with JD Andrews. As an Emmy award winner his knowledge of video production was such added value to viewers.”

And there’s a lot more – my favorite moments was having so many people visiting our booth and wanting to know more about .tv, & the folks who already use .tv stopping by to inquire about interviews & becoming advocates (Also -the booth looking so amazing that someone wanted to rent it to film an episode of their own show!).

We’re busy editing all the amazing video we took and will bring the best of BlogWorld to our YouTube channel and Facebook page later this month, so stay tuned.

The event is an off-shoot of the popular hackathon events that present teams or individuals with similar challenges. But we love how this one combines both online video and .tv!

Hackaday.tv was created by the founders of Shelby.tv (obviously they know the power a .tv can have) and you can read all about the APIs that will be available and other event details on the official site.

We’re looking forward to seeing what comes of this day. We’re sure that there will be lots of great creations offered and some of them might even grow to be tomorrow’s hot new video-based application.

Not only did we meet amazing people and companies, but we also got to sit in on some really educational and inspiring sessions – including, of course, Matt Mullenweg’s “State of the Word”.

We’ve sponsored a few WordCamps this year (in fact, it was great to see quite a few people from other events in SF), but it was the first time we had a chance to see Matt speak. One of the things we really love about these events is how passionate this community is about blogging and WordPress, and watching “SOTW” it’s easy to see where that comes from.

Some stats that blew us away:

  • “22 of every 100 active domains created in the U.S. are running WordPress.”
  • “14.7 percent of the top million websites in the world use WordPress.” (source: W3Techs)
  • “WordPress now has 15,000 plugins and 200 million plugin downloads.”

We met a lot of great people in San Francisco – including a lot of international Word Campers (everyone knew and loved .tv!), who were a lot of fun to talk to. We took a lot of photos and video – check them out on our Facebook Page and our YouTube channel. One of our favorite interviews was this one with the author of The WordPress Bible, Aaron Brazell. Aaron discussed the Second Edition of his great book and also shared some terrific WordPress Top Tips:

We want to thank the great people at Automattic, especially Rose Goldman, who really watched over us, clued us East Coasters in taxis and great sushi, and really made #wcsf a great experience.

We’re excited to be part of this, the biggest WordCamp event of the year. We’re looking forward to this being another great WordCamp event. Getting to know the people in this remarkable community – from high-profile developers to the end users (like us) who use WordPress to broadcast our message into the online world – has been a fantastic experience. We also were able to get Boston native and Content Rules author CC Chapman to interview some of the participants and give the last talk on Saturday, “Video Content Rules” – thanks CC! We learned (and laughed) a lot!

We felt a lot of .tv love from the Boston WordCamp community – our sponsor table was always busy and the prize wheel never stopped. We gave away a lot of new .tv swag – lots of bags, t-shirts, pens and stickers – and we have more to give away soon.

We also had a lot of great conversations with really interesting people, all who had really great advice:

Now we’re not playing favorites – but if we were, we’d say our favorite person we met on Saturday was Violet. 12-year-old Violet has a webshow called, “Oh Snap, it’s Violet“and we love seeing someone her age so confident and passionate about online video (also with a very involved Mom!).
