• We launched our Small Business and Online Video focus with questions on our Facebook and Twitter pages on our 2013 Bucket Lists and the video trends we’re seeing for the year.

• We announced that .tv was sponsoring the Web Series track at NMX in Las Vegas with a great interview with IAWTV Chairman Paul Kontonis, which includes the importance of producers utilizing their own domain, some great stats on distribution platforms, the growth of the web series category and how the cable companies are getting interested.
• Throughout the weekend we posted photos and updates across our social networks from NMX where we got to speak to great innovators such as Scott Monty, Global Head of Social Media at the Ford Motor Company, Justin Levy, Global Head of Social Media at Citrix, Author and .tv Advocate C.C. Chapman and Travis Richey, the creator (and lead actor!) behind the fantastic web series,The Inspector.tv.

Jason also contributed a wonderful guest post  on “Optimizing Your Videos For Search And Social”. As an extra – Jason also put together a great How To video that really makes the optimization process look easy, which can be seen at the end of the post.
• Verisign’s SVP of Marketing, Scott Schnell, wrote about brands that are increasingly using video to engage with their customers , like the new site Lipsy.tv, and how building audiences on .tv domain names is helping them achieve their goals on the “Between the Dots” blog

.tv Advocate Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff interviews Ford Motor Company’s Scott Monty at NMX on 1/8/13

We had a fantastic time at New Media Expo last week in Las Vegas. .tv sponsored the WebTV/Video Track and there were some great panels including “You Too Can Have a Successful YouTube Channel,” “Ready, Set, Shoot – A Beginners Guide” and “Where Is All of This Headed? The Future of Digital Entertainment.” All the panels were well attended (many standing room only!), which really shows how exciting and fast-growing this space has become.

While we were at NMX we were able to talk to many of the speakers and thought leaders that are driving emerging technologies in their companies. In less than a day we spoke with Scott Monty, Global Head of Social Media at the Ford Motor Company, Justin Levy, Global Head of Social Media at Citrix, Author and .tv Advocate C.C. Chapman and Travis Richey, the creator (and lead actor!) behind the fantastic web series, The Inspector.tv. We learned a lot from each of them on their views about online video, what trends they’re seeing for 2013 and a lot of great tips for those getting started. We’ll be sharing those videos with you soon.

We were on the Red Carpet, talking to the nominees about theirnominations, their work and where they see the online video space going. It was so exciting to speak toall of these fantastic talented people, including Chris Hardwick, Felicia Day, The Cast and Crew of “Husbands” and Teal Sherer. We were also able to talk to the winners after they received their awards, so we’ll be sharing footage of those interviews in the next couple of weeks.

Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff interviews Vimeo’s Alicia Haraksin at the Watch.tv Lounge

If you were in New York City the first week of June, you may have felt a wave of creativity as some of the best and brightest video producers in the world gathered for the second ever Vimeo Festival + Awards.

We were proud sponsors of the event.

Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff and C.C. Chapman, two of our .tv Advocates, covered all facets of the festival for us –  interviewing nominees, winners past and present as well as industry luminaries and speakers from the event about the importance and future of online video in our .tv Lounge. You can see all of our interviews from the event on the Watch.tv Vimeo Channel.

Before the sold out awards ceremony began, our team was on the red carpet interviewing VIPs as they made their way into the awards. Everyone from HDSLR godfather Vincent Laforet to the master of ceremonies for the night Reggie Watts got in front of our cameras.

The event wasn’t all about the stars, but it was all about being creative and finding a way to make your living doing it.

The two days of the festival were packed with screenings, panels and director profiles so that any aspiring filmmaker could walk away with a head full of ideas of how they needed to move forward.

We also sponsored a workshop titled Creation to Curation: The Lifecycle of Content that focused on learning how well crafted, personality-filled content gets made and then plucked from the pack to be showcased for savvy audiences. It was led by the filmmakers from Korduroy.tv and the founders of VHX.tv.

Don’t worry if you didn’t make it in person to the event because all of the sessions are being shared online from Vimeo.
